Al recente Embedded Systems Conference, AMD ha presentato il suo nuovo tool in grado di lavorare con Sage Electronic Engineering.
Il nuovo Sage SmartProbe è stato realizzato specificatemente per applicazioni embedded su processori AMD. In questo modo i tecnici possono verificare il software utilizzando le prerogative di SmartProbe al fine di poter testare il proprio lavoro.
In effetti, attraverso l’interfaccia grafica è possibile mostrare in formato grafico l’intero design attraverso il code flow, i registri, la memoria con la possibilità anche di intervenire direttamente anche in caso di architetture multicore.
SmartProbe può anche essere un valido aiuto in fase di qualifica.
Buddy Broeker direttore delle soluzioni embedded di casa AMD ha presentato la suite di lavoro ponendo in risalto l’enorme potenzialità e la perfetta aderenza sui processori di propria produzione.
The SmartProbe tool is key to helping remove the barriers to using x86 in deeply embedded or ‘headless’ systems [.] Because this class of embedded design is deployed without a monitor, keyboard or other peripherals, it can greatly improve efficiency if there is a consistent architecture between the embedded system design and the PC architecture where its critical software is developed. This new tool can allow the developer more access and control over their project with very accurate inspection and debug capability.

Sempre secondo Sage, a breve dovrebbe essere anche offerto un IDE appositamente realizzato per AMD.
Secondo le dichiarazioni di AMD e Sage, la nuova suite dovrebbe supportare i processori della serie Opteron, Athlon, Sempron, Turion e Phenom.
